What are the supported mobile platforms for PrinterShare?
Currently we support Apple iPhone and Google Android platforms.
How can I install your software on my phone and start printing?
iPhone users need to open App Store from their phones, search for PrinterShare, find and install it. Android users need to do the same on Android Market.
Can I print to a WiFi printer?
Yes, Android version supports Nearby Printing. You would need to install free version of PrinterShare from Android Market, print test page to make sure it works correctly, then purchase PrinterShare Premium Key to unlock Nearby Printing. iPhone version of Nearby Printing is in the works.
What is Nearby Printers?
Nearby Printers are WiFi-capable printers accessible within the same Local Network your phone is connected to via WiFi. When you select Nearby Printers from the main menu your WiFi printer detected automatically. Please make sure WiFi is switched ON and connected on the phone, the printer is ON, and both phone and the printer are connected to the same network.
Does PrinterShare print in color?
When printing to Nearby Printer, the application prints in color only when we found the exact driver for your color printer. When using generic printer the printout is Black and White only. When printing to a remote color printer, the printout should always be in color. Please print the test page to check if color printing works for your model. If it does not, you have an option of using Remote Printing to your own printer and print now, or wait for updates.
Nearby Printing doesn't work for me. What are the alternatives?
You can install free PrinterShare software to your computer connected to the printer, wirelessly or with a wire, share your printer in PrinterShare console, find it from the phone and finally print (Remote Printing). This assumes you are able to print from your computer. Remote Printing requires you to sign in or register (it's free). We recommend using the same account on the phone and computer if you print to your own printer.
With remote printing, the application said "Printed successfully" but nothing came out of the printer. What's wrong?
It takes a few moments to transfer print job from the phone to the computer sharing the printer. Once print job is detected by the computer, you'll be prompted to approve it for print. When printing from your own phone, we recommend to setup policy "Print without questions" for your account. Then you wouldn't need to approve your own print jobs. Just be patient.
How to print email attachments?
On Android platform you can print Gmail attachments. Open email with attachment, then select Preview and choose Open with. PrinterShare should be in the list of options.
When selecting my WiFi printer for Nearby Printing the application says "We did not find the driver for the exact model of your printer". What does this mean?
This means the Driver Pack we have for PrinterShare (installed during first use of Nearby Printing) currently does not have your exact printer model supported. You can try using generic driver instead (recommended, in most cases will work OK but in B/W only).
I found driver for my printer model online. Can I install it to PrinterShare for Nearby Printing?
No. What you found is likely to be a driver for computer (WIndows or Mac), not mobile device. PrinterShare has proprietary driver format and cannot accept external drivers. We work on supporting more printers in the Driver Pack.
Do I need to buy a key to find my printer on WiFi network?
No. To find Nearby Printer you don't need to be Premium Subscription (the key). If you are not able to find your printer or the printing of the test page does not work correctly, buying Premium Subscription will not help. You may print using Remote Printing to your own printer. Install our free software from printershare.com on your computer connected to the printer, share the printer via PrinterShare console (our software), find the printer from your phone and then print.
When installing Driver Pack I got an error "Cannot create directory on SD card" (or any other error related to SD card). What's the problem?
Driver Pack is installed on SD card. First, make sure your phone does have a working SD card with at least 8 MB of free space (most phones do). Second, make sure the SD card is mounted to the phone. In case you plugged in your phone to a computer via cable and mounted the SD card to the computer (so that you are able to see the card as additional driver on the computer), the card is no longer available on the phone. To resolve that, please unmount (eject on Mac) the card on the computer, unplug the cable and switch the phone off and then on. After that, repeat installation the Driver Pack. If not present, it automatically (with the prompt) gets installed when you try Nearby Printing.
